The Mission of MoralGenius is to develop and provide tools for parents, teachers,
home schoolers, and other caretakers that help instill strong moral values
and "Emotional Intelligence" in children during the early years of life.
Recently, many studies have been done to decipher factors that determine what contributes to a person’s success. One common misconception is that I.Q. is the number one determinant of success. Research done by Daniel Goleman, Ph.D and others has shown that intelligence contributes approximately 20% to the success that person will experience in life. Rather, Goleman’s research shows that emotions play a much greater role in thought, decision-making, and individual success. He defines "emotional intelligence" as a trait not measured by IQ tests, or a set of skills such as self-control, self-motivation, empathy and social competence in interpersonal relationships. Goleman’s research also shows that such characteristics can be taught.
The MoralGenius flashcard system embraces these insights and provides a tool to systematically teach these skills to children. Children grow and develop rapidly during the first ten years of their lives. We have developed a system tailored to help parents, teachers, home schoolers, and others to engage with kids in an age appropriate manner. MoralGenius has flashcard systems for three distinct age groups: 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 10 years of age.
3 to 5 Years of Age
This flashcard set consists of 40 cards. The front of each flashcard presents the child with real situations, problems, and behaviors that will be familiar to a typical 3 to 5 year old child. The answers on the back side of the flashcard will allow parents, teachers, and other caretakers to introduce and discuss character traits such as
patience, listening, hard work, kindness and caring with the child.
These cards can also be ordered in a
"Flashes of Faith" version in which the answer is accompanied by a verse from scripture that illustrates the principle being taught.
Each flashcard concept is represented by an illustrated "spokescharacter.”
6 to 8 Years of Age
This flashcard set consists of 40 cards. The front of each flashcard presents the child with real situations, problems, and behaviors that will be familiar to a typical 6 to 8 year old. The answers on the backside of the flashcard will allow parents, teachers, and other caretakers to introduce and discuss character traits such as
empathy, responsibility, respect for others, honesty, courage, and others.
These cards can also be ordered in a
"Flashes of Faith" version in which the answer is accompanied by a verse from scripture that illustrates the principle being taught.

9 to 10 Years of Age
